Automation Engineer

POSITION TYPE:  FULL-TIME

JOB PROFILE:

TAM is looking for an Automatoin Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of automated systems and to work with the Sales Department to evaluate prospective projects and assist in the quotation processes.  This role requires experienec with industrial control systems, PLC programming, and system integration and will play a key role in supporting both new and existing equipment installations.
 

KEY FOCUS AREAS:

• Team Leadership
o Manage and develop a cross-functional design department by setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and conducting performance evaluations
o Foster a culture of accountability, safety, professional development, and continous improvement
o Ensure the team has proper staffing levels and participate in recruitment, hiring and internship programs

• Design Oversight
o Oversee and participate in the design process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and standardization in system, software and electrical design
o Maintain proper documentation, version control and adherence to standards

• Production & Service Collaboration
o Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, engineers, technicians, and customers to faciliate project scope development, vendor communication, assembly and build processes, system integration, testing and debugging, and completing customer required testing (FAT/SAT)
o Work with the design and production teams to resolve technical challenges

• Sales Collaboration
o Travel on-site to customer locations to evaluate new project potentials
o Assist the Sales Department with preparing quotations, including: price, timeline, BOM development, etc.
o Provide technical input for the presentation of submittal packages to customers, including: information for slide deck presentations, equipment specifications, training outlines, etc.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
• Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, related field of study (or equivalent work experience)
• 3+ years of experience in , industrial automation, manufacturing, project management
• Demonstrated proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, motion control,  industrial communication protocols, design and use of electrical schematics
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Posesses analytical thinking, troubleshooting/problem solving skills, detailed oriented mindset, hands-on mindset, solution oriented
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
